Abstract/Contents:Details the use of Global Positioning Systems (GPS) by golf course operators, an expensive installation that is becoming more practical through new technology that provides course management tools and high resolution video which has resulted in an increased interest in GPS advertising. Explains how the introduction of advertisements has offset the high costs for course managers. Details the introduction of the Wi-Fi GPS systems which create a private wireless communications network. Discusses potential advantages, including improved pace of play and scores. Concludes that "while GPS can make for a more pleasant day on the course, it still carries a price tag that many operators just can't afford."
