Abstract/Contents:Discusses the marking and lining of softball fields, and suggests that "the underlying goal of [an] athletic field professional is to make the visiting team feel intimidated simply by looking at the facility." Discusses possible methods of accomplishing this scenario through the day of a game, suggesting that "because schedules are prepared months in advance, the groundskeeper can plan on mowing, painting fair lines and placing logos the day before every home game so that more time can be spent on the clay surface." Concludes that "it's the first 15 minutes for the opposing team, fans in the stands and the proud home team that will showcase the dedication and imagination of the grounds crew."
