Abstract/Contents:"Urea-N increased production of timothy approximately 5-fold, irrespective of depth of water table and soil. Yields were about the same with water tables maintained at 2.5, 15, or 46 cm. as without a water table. Greatest yield occurred in lysimeters with 46 cm. of soil, 46-cm. water tables, and N fertilizer. Within 2 years, Juncus balticus completely dominated nonfertilized timothy growing with 2.5 or 15-cm. water tables. Formation of moss and a sod mat on the soil surface coincided with appearance of Juncus."
