| Abstract/Contents: | Profiles drip irrigation, stating that "the water savings realized result from the fact that drip irrigation can apply the water more efficiently by maximizing the water going to the plant root zone and minimizing the losses associated with evaporation, over-spray, and wind effects." Discusses potential savings in the initial acquisition, "because of the relatively lower flow rates involved...resulting in smaller, less expensive pipe diameters." Details the installation process of a drip system, focuing on the supply system, the distribution line and the disseminating system. Also discusses maintenance of the system. Concludes that "a quality drip irrigation can be quite beneficial in a landscaping installation in terms of water conservation, aesthetics, vandal resistance, potential liability actions, and overal cost-effectiveness if properly designed, intalled and maintained." |
