| Abstract/Contents: | Details the modifications made to a hammermill at the United States (U.S.) Southern Great Plains Field Station, in Woodward, Oklahoma. Describes various adjustments which include a dust collector that removes dust without seed loss. Also mentions that "all joints previously helod together by bolts, were welded to make the interior easy to clean." Emphasizes the importantance of a change in the power system, that allows a range of speeds from 640 to 3,880 rotations per minute (r.p.m.) and states that the modified power system is important "when many types of seed and degrees of processing are involved." Lists advantages including "a wide speed range, easy adjustments to any speed within the range, relatively dustless operation, and an interior easy to clean." |
