| Abstract/Contents: | Describes new turf pests, known as "Rhodesgrass scale, Antonina graminis Mask, and Ruth's scale, Odanaspis ruthae Kot. in southern Texas, Louisiana and Florida." Details the destruction caused by the pests and lists possible symptoms of infection such as "a yellow to light brown color...[and] dead stems with stubby leaf bracts." States that Johnsongrass, Para grass, Bermudagrass, St. augustinegrass, and Rhodesgrass may be susceptible to the pests. Emphasizes importance of turf observation to prevent disease because of unsuccessful control procedures. |
