| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the process of pesticide degradation, stating that "after a pesticide is applied to the soil, the degradation process commences with a lag or acclimation period followed by an interval of rapid pesticide loss...The lag...period can be as long as a few months or as short as a few hours." Explains that "enhanced biodegradation is observed when a pesticide is rapidly dissipated in the soil environment and is thus inneffective in controlling a target pest." Discusses the turf management implications, stating that "the response can range from complete to only partial loss of chemical activity...[which] can result in little or no long-term control of a given target pest." |
