| Abstract/Contents: | Profiles the EnviroCaster, which "is a self-contained, solar recharged minicomputer which senses environmental parameters such as air and soil temperatures, rainfall or irrigation, relative humidity, leaf wetness, and wind, 24 hours a day" in managing Poa annua. Explains that "it is desirable to manage the formation of seedheads of Poa annua to maintain the appearance and playability of the course" and that the EnviroCaster "is used to time the application of Embark plant growth regulator and operates on the basis of degree days." Suggests that the EnviroCaster "also assists in meeting environmental concerns by documenting the need for and timing of chemical treatments, thus maximizing effectiveness and minimizing unneeded sprays." |
