| Abstract/Contents: | "Centipedegrass sod pieces, measuring 24 x 18 in and naturally infected with Myriogenospora atramentosa, were obtained from a commercial sod farm. Sod pieces were placed 2 ft apart, in a prepared field, in a randomized block design with three pieces per block in 21 rows. Treatments were randomly applied to the blocks in 10 gal of water per 1000 sq ft and replicated three times. Fungicide treatments were applied with a Hudson hand sprayer every 3 weeks beginning June 18, 1986 and ending Oct 28. Spraying was resumed Mar 26, 1987 after the grass had broken dormancy. Late spring frosts induced dormancy again during the first week of April. A second treatment application was made April 16 after the grass resumed growth. Because disease incidence is highest during the cool spring months, evaluations were delayed until the spring of 1987 (May 12). Counts were made of the total number of diseased leaves (black stroma present) occurring in eack sod piece in all blocks. Aliette and Bayleton significantly reduced the number of infected grass leaves. Moderate leaf reddening was observed 1 week after the July 9 application on Bayleton and Terraclor treated blocks. This coloration did not persist or appear again with later treatments. This test is being continued." |
