| Abstract/Contents: | Profiles Golf Course Superintendents Association of America's (GCSAA) Professional Development Initiative (PDI) in 2008, after five years since it's development in 2003. Explains that it "is designed to increase the status of Class A superintendents"; "second, PDI is meant to better prepare a superintendent for the requirements of the job at his facility or any other"; "lastly, PDI requires that all Class A superintendents be qualified to apply pesticides." Suggests that "for those who have chosen to renew their Class A status, the educational requirements have not been hard to fulfill...the GGCSA [Georgia Golf Course Superintendents Association] generally provides enough yearly education to allow a superintendent to complete their educational requirements in the span of a single year." Concludes that "if the current branding campaign begins to work as hoped, then the long range goal of PDI will be reached. Superintendents will be smarter, more marketable and more recognizable as leaders in the golf industry." |
