Abstract/Contents:Discusses possible methods of controlling silvery thread moss. States that "mosses are primitive perennial plants with no true roots and no vascular system, which means it has no nutrient and water conductive tissues." Briefly profiles silvery thread moss (Bryum argenteum), stating that it "is encouraged by cultural management practices that foster faster putting green speed at the cost of bentgrass...These practices tend to decrease the ability of the bent to compete." Concludes that "whether using natural or chemical controls, silvery thread moss can still get the upper hand. Whatever product or practice being used, it is not a fix-and-forget cure."
