Abstract/Contents: | Presents a study conducted to determine the effectiveness of indoxacarb baits in controlling tawny mole crickets in bermudagrass, Cynodon dactylon (L.). Details methods and materials used in the study, stating that "this experiment was conducted at a golf course...that was naturally infested with TMC [tawny mole cricket]. Plots were 30 x 40 ft [feet]...located on two fairways, arranged in an RCB [randomized complete block] design, replicated four times....The number of dead mole crickets in each plot was counted in the early morning 1 DAT [day after treatment]." Reports that "the [number] of dead TMC collected from plots 1 DAT did not statistically differ among treatments...Plots treated with the medium rate of the DPX-MP062-390 bait had significantly less tunneling damage 4 DAT, all treatments except the low rate of DPX-MP062-391 and the Parkway Mole Cricket Bait had significantly less tunneling 14 days post-treatment, compared to the untreated control." Concludes that "despite the damage caused by the mole crickets, none of the turf density ratings significantly differed on any evaluation date. None of the treatments caused phytotoxicity." |
