| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses research conducted "on nitroget fate and leaching from Kentuck bluegrass." Reports that the "initial research conducted from 1991 through 1993 indicated that there was minimal risk of nitrate-nitrogen leaching from turfgrass." States that a "sloped USGA [United States Golf Course Association] putting green was constructed in 1998. The putting green was designed for monitoring the down slope movement of water in the rootzone." Reports that "regardless of the rootzone depth, the straight sand greens had greater extremes in soil moisture content across the slope of the green than the sand/peat and sand/soil rootzone mix greens." Mentions phosphorus fertilization, stating that "research was initiated in the spring of 2004. An area that tested low for soil phosphorus was stripped of the existing turfgrass, the soil was prepared, and Kentucky bluegrass sod was planted on the site." Comments on stormwater retention for golf course irrigation, reporting that "retained stormwater is safe for golf course irrigation." Breifly mentions that "research is...being contucted to determine best management techniques for reestablishing putting greens following winterkill injury." |
