Abstract/Contents:Investigations in Georgia in 1968 showed that the resistance of selected clones of Bermudagrass (Cynodon dactylon and other species of the genus) to damage by adults of Prosapia bicincta (Say) was the result of tolerance to the toxin injected with the insect's saliva and the feeding preferences of the Cercopid. Of the clones tested, one of C. transvaalensis, which had previously been shown to have intermediate resistance to first-instar larvae of Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E. Smith), was rated as resistant, ten were rated as intermediate and nine were susceptible.
