Abstract/Contents:States that many courses have been "converting to ultradwarf grasses because of their tolerance to low mowing heights and better cold tolerance." Informs that "when one changes grasses, one must also change methods. One will still, mow, water, fertilize, verticut and aerify, but there will be changes in how one does those things and why one must do them differently." Reports that, "management standards with the new grasses are developing and, if one is switching, it would pay...dividends to call a neighboring superintendent who has been managing the same grass one is considering and who has similar soil, water source, pH issues, budget, and member expectations." States that "thatch production is directly affected by...nitrogen management program." Informs that "one constantly has to work this grass to keep it from getting so thick and dense that water can't even penetrate." Reports that "one can't automatically do the same thing to all different greens anymore."
