Abstract/Contents:Discusses practice fields, suggesting that "as practice facilities improve, more golfers come out to use them." Provides possible methods of upgrading practice facilities, suggesting to "watch the hidden costs." Presents possible considerations for building and maintaining a driving range, recommending to "build the tee as large as humanly possible"; "[limit] the number of levels in order to limit the amount of unusable area"; and "Kentucky bluegrass may be a better choice for initial establishment." Also suggests to "be sure to direct traffic flow on and off the range tee by keeping the entry/exit areas as wide open and unobstructed as possible" and to "consider varying traffic flow for the transport of golf balls from the retrieval equipment to the tee." Also discusses orientation, playing characterisitics, and shot variation when considering building a short game practice area. Mentions potential practice facility management tips, including that "divots should be filled as often as the budget will allow" and that "regular movement of the tee markers is vital, and developing a systematic, regimented means of shifting play is strongly recommended."
