Abstract/Contents: | "Waitakere City Council - have undertaken some really fantastic innovative neighbourhood park development work We are going to view a cross section of these which will include a focus on art, innovative playgrounds, range of skate parks and intensive neighbourhood park development. We shall also be viewing the new Waitakere City Sports complex currently under construction. Speakers from Waitakere City Council will provide both a development and operational focus. Maungawhau [Mt Eden] - A detailed look (on foot) at management challenges on Mt Eden, which receives over a million international, national, and local visits a year. The cone includes turf, pasture, woodland, and native forest. We examine issues of managing erosion, people and vehicles; iwi co-management and community involvement, including the community nursery that grows native grasses. Bring walking shoes/boots and parkas for walk around the mountain." |
