| Abstract/Contents: | "Fungicde treatments were evaluated on a stand of mixed Kentucky bluegrass in a fairway at the Elk's Country Club, West Lafayette, IN. The turf received conventional golf course fairway care and was maintained at 1.5 in height. Treatments were applied to 3.3 ft x 6.6 ft plots arranged in a randomized complete block design with three replicattions. A 3.3 ft untreated buffer strip was left between treated plots to reduce interplot interference. Treatments were applied with a hand held CO2 pressurized sprayer at 22 psi with a 9504 Tee Jet nozzle at a rate of 2 gal/1000 sq ft. Untreated control plots were sprayed with water only. All treatments were first applied on 22 May. Actidone, Daconi; 2787 and SN 596 treatments were again applied on 3 Jun while Chipco 26019 and Prochloraz treatments were again applied on 9 Jun. Disease ratings were made on 22, 30 May, 11 and 23 Jun by counting the number of leaves infected among 50 randomly selected leaves in each plot. Apr and early May were warm and dry. From mid May to the end of the month, the weather was cooler than normal and extremely wet. June was relatively dry and near normal in temperature. Leaf spot development was severe and at its peak when treatments were started on 22 May. Disease severity decreased from then until 1 Jul when it was nearly absent. While the treatments generally had fewer infected leaves than the untreated control, the differences usually were not significant. Under the severe conditons of this test, and with the decline in disease incidence, none of the treatments gave remarkable control. No phytotoxicity was noted." |
