| Abstract/Contents: | "This trial was conducted primarily to determine the effect of different treatment schedules on the efficacy of several compounds which are already recognized as having good activity against this disease. The plot was arranged in a randomized complete block design so that a 5 ft x 10 ft treated area of each entry was included once on each variety of 'Park', 'Newport' and 'Vantage' (e.g., three replications). Treatments were made with a CO2 powered sprayer equipped with two 8006 Tee Jet nozzles, operating at 50 psi, and delivering 2 gal/1000 sq ft. First application for all treatments was made 8 May. The second 14-day application was applied on 22 May and the second treatment for 21-day interval was made on 29 May. Readings were taken on 7 May (before first application), 23, 29 May and 3 June. Symptoms were evident, but incidence was low on 8 may when treatments were initiated. The disease became intense and damaging through May. Volan and both formualtions of Chipco 26019 were superior to other chemicals. Rates and schedules had comparitively little influence upon efficacy. Single applications of both Chipco and Vorlan provided good protection. The spring Terraclor application offered little measurable control, but did improve the overall quality when compared with non-treated areas." |
