Abstract/Contents:Discusses soil and plant analysis, stating that "one of the most important, but also one of the weakest, steps in a soil testing or plant analysis program is sampling." Explains that "the actual soil can vary tremendously across what might look like a uniform area topographically, and if samples of soil or leaf tissue are not taken properly across the target area the test results will be of little or no value." Suggests methods of soil and plant tissue testing, analysis, and interpreting the results of the test. Concludes that "with soil and plant tissue testing, it is the old adage of 'garbage in, garbage out.' If [one] does not take a representative sample for analysis or if [one intends] sending this to a laboratory that does not use the accepted testing methods for [an] area, then save...money and take a guess rather than misinformation."
