| Abstract/Contents: | "Fungicides were evlauated for their control of leaf spot on an irrigated stand of ['A-34' Kentucky] bluegrass at the Cornell university Turfgrass Field laboratory, Ithaca, NY. The soil was a shallow Rhinebeck silt loam of pH 5.7. Treatments were initiated on 23 Apr, before the disease had affected more than 20% of green leaves, and were repeated on 23 May and 6 Jun. Applications were made with a self-powered boom sprayer which delivered 5 gal suspension/1000 sq ft at 35 psi. Each treatment was applied to 4 replicates of 3 ft x 11 ft areas, randomized in a complete block design. Disease levels were assessed by estimating the percentages of infected green leaves from a height of 2 ft. Detailed assessments of actual infection percentages were made on representative grab samples, and the results confirmed the accuracy of the visual estimates. An analysis of variance test on each set of data indicated significant (P=0.05) differences among treatments. The data were further evaluated with Fisher's least significant difference test. All rates of CGA 449, Chipco 26019, and BTS 40542 plus Actidione TGF significantly reduced the incidence of leaf spot on all sampling dates. In addition, BTS 40542 alone, and Daconil 2787 provided good control over the time period of the test. On two dates, disease incidence was significantly amplified in plots treated with the higher rate of HWG 1608." |
