| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses potential weed management practices for home lawns, highlighting "weed control prior to turf establishment"; "weed control in established turf; and "general pesticide information." Explains that "nutsedge...weeds generally thrive in soils that remain wet for extended periods of time due to poor drainage or excessive irrigation. The first step in nutsedge control is, therefore, to correct the problem of continuously wet sites." Recommends to "observe all directions, restrictions and precautions on pesticide labels"; "use pesticides at correct dosage and intervals between applications to avoid illegal residues or injury to plants and animals"; and to "never eat, drink or smoke when handling pesticides, and always wash with soap and water after use." |
