Abstract/Contents:States that "the three components that must be in place in order for plant disease to develop [are] a susceptible host, a pathogen (cause of the disease), and an environment suitable for disease development." Lists "variety selection, leaf wetness management, nitrogen fertility, mowing practices, organic matter management, turf-growth regulators, and biological control" as possible methods of turf disease management. Also lists possible advantages of cultural management, including reducing "one's dependence on commercial fungicides"; "the risk of fungicide resistance"; and negative consequences of fungicides; those can inlude phytotoxicity, disease enhancement...and disease resurgence." Also discusses variety selection, leaf wetness management, fertility, mowing, organic matter management, growth regulators, and biological control.
