Abstract/Contents:Presents a study conducted to determine the efficacy of neocontinoids and pyrethroids in controlling first generation annual bluegrass weevil (ABW). Details methods and materials used in the study, stating that "product efficacy was evaluated...by removing ten 1.85-inch diameter cores from near the center of each plot and using a saline solution to extract all stages except eggs." Lists treatments evaluated in the study, including Meridian 25WG, Scimitar CS, Scimitar CS + Meridian 75WP, Arena 50WDG, Talstar 0.67SC, Merit 75WP + Talstar 0.67SC, and Allectus 0.81SC. Reports that "there were more than 180 larvae per ft2 [square foot] in the untreated checks, well above the generally accepted spring threshold of 30 to 80 larvae per ft2. Two of the three neonicotinoids (Meridian and Arena) failed to reduce larval populations significantly, and the third neonicotinoid (Merit) did not provide agronomically acceptable levels of control."
