Abstract/Contents: | Discusses manufactured sand, stating that it "is the producted created when coarse sand or rock is processed in a mechanical crusher." Suggests that when selecting a manufactured sand for golf course use "due diligence on the buyer's part is needed and independent lab testing is recommneded." Lists potential factors to consider during the bunker sand selection process, including particle size, partical shape, crusting potential, chemical reaction and hardness, infiltration rate, color, and overall playing quality. Explains that "a turfgrass advisory service visit can be helpful in setting up a protocol for clubs selecting a bunker sand." |
