Abstract/Contents:States that "canola and mustard meal, the remains of the seeds after oil has been extracted, have been found to be effective as natural biofumigants for controlling nematodes, fusarium, bipolaris and rhizoctonia in soils and the disease kikuyu yellows." Reports that work "at the Biological and Chemical Research Institute (BCRI) in Sydney, [Australia] demonstrated that just 25 grams of mustard meal added to one kilogram of soil, killed all pathogens except pythium." Suggests that "the next step [is] to look at the most practical and profitable ways to get mustard meal onto turf."
