| Abstract/Contents: | "There is great difference in soils and climatic conditions in Switzerland even in small areas. Consequently, a lot is required as far as soil structure and management are concerned when turfs are highly frequented, and this is specific for every site. Special importance is therefore paid to: a highly adapted drainage system, a sufficiently high water permeability and water capacity of the vegetation layer, as well as the grass varieties and species. There is no uniform layout-system in Switzerland. Experiments made to investigate the layout system 'close to the soil' and the 'drainage layer system' have not shown any great difference as far as utilization and management are concerned. When the layout cost is taken into consideration, however, the layout system 'close to the soil' is to be preferred. Problems are frequently encountered when the supply of suitable constructional or additional material is concerned." |
