| Abstract/Contents: | "Information was provided on the results obtained after a model experiment had been carried out from 1986 to 1988 inclusively. It was the purpose of this experiment to demonstrate above all under practical conditions what had been taught in theory. Eight different soil structures, as the basis for establishing an extensive green cover on roofs, were compared in this experiment. Three repetitions were made. A dry turf mixture was uniformly sown on the different soils. The changes taking place in the vegetation, as specific of the variants, and under the influence of extreme weather conditions were duly registered every year. This information, in combination with the physical key values of the soil substrates permits [one] to derive hints on the suitability of systems envisaged for the establishment of green covers on roofs, taking into account the different requirements of the sites concerned." |
