| Abstract/Contents: | Presents a study conducted by the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station at Rutgers University to evaluate Kentucky bluegrass cultivar performance in eight quality trials. Details the procedures used in the study, stating that "trials were established between 1990 and 1992...Entries in all tests were seeded in 3 x 5 ft [feet] plots [and] replicated two, three, or four times." Reports that A7-60, SR 2000, Midnight, Ascot, and UD-10 PST were among the best performing cultivars on average in the collected trial data. Details the results of the six main groupings tested, and concludes that Kentucky bluegrass variations in the compact type group have a comparatively high overall quality rating. Reports that these variations additionally "[possess] good resistance to stripe smut." |
