Abstract/Contents:Presents a study that covers infestations of the bermudagrass mite "over a 3-month period in 1965 on 16 varieties replicated 4 times in the 1964 turfgrass trial at the Casa Grande Highway Farm." Reports that "infestation ratings were made at regular intervals by the same person each time, based on observation and feeling by hand for distorted growth associated with the mite." Provides a table detailing the results of the study, and states that "early growth on all varieties was infested with mites...[showing] the typical proliferation and distortion associated [with them]." Concludes that "recovery from mite damage was most rapid on selections with vigorous early growth...With a suitably resistant variety kept in healthy vigorous growth, the bermudagrass mite need not be a major concern in management."
