| Abstract/Contents: | "An electrophoretic procedure was developed to obtain patterns of seed proteins which can distinguish between species of Agrostis and more particularly between cultivars and breeder's lines of synthetics. Proteins extracted in Tris-HCL buffer, pH 6.8 were separated in 20% acrylamide containing SDS. Electrophoretic patterns of the tested seed lots are presented to illustrate the results that can be obtained with the procedure described. The procedure can be used for routine identification of cultivars of turf grasses in germplasm banks, in the selection of parents with unique protein pattern for the development of new cultivars and in verification of distinctness for proprietary purposes." |
