Abstract/Contents: | Discusses seed germination in regards to their placement in the soil. Indicates that "examination of samples taken from soils underlying certain pastures have shown that the greatest amount of buried seeds capable of germinating are...not of the grasses and clovers growing in the pasture, but other miscellaneous plants." Explains this occurrence is because "seeds below the superficial soil layers remain dormant until further cultivation brings them near enough to the surface to enable a fresh crop to germinate." |
