| Abstract/Contents: | "In field experiments, benomyl applied as a seed treatment and as a post-emergence spray was evaluated for control of post-emergence damping-off of Agrostis castellana and Poa pratensis. In all trials, benomyl seed treatment increased post-emergence damping-off of both test grasses, whilst spray application increased disease of P. pratensis in 1 trial only. No treatment in any trial gave control of post-emergence damping-off. Benomyl seed treatment decreased Fusarium culmorum and increased Cladochytrium spp. observed diseased A. castellana and P. pratensis seedlings. Increases in post-emergence damping-off following benomyl seed treatment may be due to Cladochytrium spp. once the competitive pathogen F.culmorum had been inhibited by benomyl seed treatment." wh |
