Abstract/Contents: | Presents a putting green performance pyramid, a tool used to "explain putting green performance that seems to resonate with both course officials and superintendents." Describes components of the base, including water quality, soil nutrient status, organic matter, mowing practices, and skill of the crew. Details practices used in the build period, which "represents a focus on surface management practices designed to get the putting greens ready for a playing season." Details management practices in the peak period, mentioning that "the peak period might last 7 to 14 days and is a condition not considered to be either economically or environmentally sustainable." |
