Abstract/Contents:Discusses the potential for golf courses to raise environmental awareness among local county soil and water conservation districts. Briefly describes the efforts of Marty McCall to acquire federal protection for Oregon's 35,500-acre Opal Creek old-growth forest, comparing them to steps the golf course industry could possibly take "[to] collaborate with such programs as Audubon International, Salmon Safe, First Green, Safe Harbor, [and others]." Concludes that "working together can have big payoffs for our industry and the environment as we find the common ground we share."
