Abstract/Contents: | Describes a problem encountered when slicing greens in which the rollers picked up a large amount of grass debris while cutting so that the knives would be out of the grass by the second pass. Explains that the superintendent solved the problem by installing "steel shafts with high slip plastic round stock pressed on the shaft," so that the "plastic rollers do not turn but just skid on the grass, therefore no grass can build up and lift the slicer head." Notes that the total cost for three heads was 65 dollars, and concludes that "we have used these heads all year and they cannot be beat for the results." |
