| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the process of protecting turf from winter disease, suggesting that "disease control...[during the autumn season] is essential to ensure you hit the cold, dark recesses of winter with clean greens, free from disease and not exhibiting those terrible scars that may still be recovering come next May." Recommends removing organic matter, stating that it "allows microbes in t he rootzone to proliferate and feed on the remaining organic matter." Warn against surface moisture, indicating that "Microdochium nivale needs moisture for spore germination and the dew is perfect for helping it spread and infect new plants." Provides information on protective management against winter diseases, advising to visit the Greencast website in order to acquire information on the highest risk areas. Concludes that "Microdochium patch needs to be controlled early before the onset of winter to ensure you do not end up with patches or scars remaining for months." |
