Abstract/Contents:The Prairie Turf Research Centre is being established at Olds College in Alberta, Canada to provide a central research facility that can respond to the needs of Western Canada. Two acres of trials have been in operation for approximately seven years and another two acres are being added to accommodate the increased work load. Research done on the site includes: turf varietal testing, fertility and herbicide trials, low maintenance turf evaluations, and athletic field mix trials. Future efforts will be directed towards establishing a sand based bentgrass facility for testing Alberta overwintering practices, mowing height trials on dwarf bluegrasses, overseeding trials, and carbohydrate partitioning studies.
