| Abstract/Contents: | "In 1993, over 27,500 plants from 1992 Cynodon transvaalensis (African) x C. dactylan (Common) bermudagrass crosses were space-planted at Tifton, Georgia, and mowed at 3/16 to inch in 1993 and 1994. Four hundred and forty nine (449) triploid hybrids that tolerated close mowing and showed good color in the fall were selected and included in replicated plots in 1994 and 1995. Fifty (50) of the 260 hybrids selected in 1995 will undergo more intense evaluation beginning in 1998. These new hybrids will have new genetics, more pest resistance and lower maintenance requirements. The best of these hybrids have potential of production between the years 2000 and 2005." |
