Abstract/Contents:Discusses components of an effective golf course green committee, highlighting the potential problem of clashing decision-making priorities based on the elements of agronomics, economics, and politics. Encourages "open-mindedness, objectivity, patience, approachability, and availability" among committee members to avoid fragmentation, promote turf stability, and potentially turn "ugly" situations into good ones. Stresses that it is the job of the green committee to construct and effect maintenance policies, and recommends that maintenance priorities be in sync with "agronomic building blocks" like cultural practices and turf nutritional requirements.
