Abstract/Contents:Short review on the importance and native of growing mediums for bowling greens. States good bowling conditions require a very firm, dry and level surface. Few natural or amended soils can provide this because a proper balance between oxygen and water availability in the root zone cannot be achieved. Presents, therefore, in two tables the University of California's recommendations for sand particle sizes suitable for construction and topdressing of bowling greens.
