Abstract/Contents: | Briefly discusses three University of Massachusetts (UMASS) research studies on vegetative filter strips (VFS). States that the first was conducted "to determine which [of 11 plant] species most effectively removed six pesticides," and reports that "blue flag iris was highly effective at enhancing the loss of the tested pesticides." Details the second study, mentioning that "a runon plot, consisting of 12 VFS...has been established at the UMASS Turfgrass Research Center." Notes that "a bromide tracer study will be carried out in the spring (2007) to determine any hydraulic differences between VFS prior to planting." |
