Abstract/Contents: | The effects of 2 agricultural fertilizers, ammonium sulphate/nitrate (ASN; 7% NO3-N, 19% NH4-N) and nitrochalk (13% NO3-N, 13% NH4-N), were compared with those of 2 slow-release N fertilizers, Floranid (9.6% amide-N, 22.4% isobutylidene diurea) and Nitrozol (38% urea formaldehyde), on 2 sports-turfs over 3 years. Compared with ASN, utilization of N was 95.9% in nitrochalk, 86.4% in Floranid and 50.1% in Nitrozol. The fresh weight of cuttings in the 4 plots was also approximately in these proportions, though dry matter as a percentage of fresh weight was similar throughout. N-release by Floranid approached that by ASN but was very much slower in the early spring. Turf quality in the Nitrozol-fertilized plots was poor compared with the others. |
