| Abstract/Contents: | "Fungicides were tested at the University of Nebraska John Seaton Anderson Turfgrass Research Facility, Mead, NE on a Manhattan ryegrass turf established Sep 1985. R. solani grown on sterilized oat seed was used to inoculate the turf in May 1986 and again in May 1987. Plots were irrigated daily for a total 1 in per wk. Preemergent weed control was DCPA applied in late Apr, and postemergent herbicides consisted of 2,4-D, MCPP, and dicamba applied in early Oct. Plots were fertilized with 1 lb 46-0-0 in May, 1/2 lb 46-0-0 in Jun, 1 lb 46-0-0 in Jul, and 1 lb 34-19-5 in Oct. Treatments were applied to 25 sq ft plots using a CO2 pressurized (25 psi) backpack sprayer. Five gal of spray solution were applied per plot. Treatments were arranged in a randomized complete block design with four replications. Rainfall was below normal from Apr through Jul and near normal for the rest of the growing season. Temperatures were near normal with intermittent periods of hot weather. Brown patch prevalence was severe. With the exception of Pace 77WP, all treatments significantly reduced brown patch prevalence. Only eight of 23 treatments held brown patch prevalence to less than 50% LYNX provided the best protection against infection by R. solani." |
