| Abstract/Contents: | Presents a study conducted by the University of Massachusetts-Amherst "to develop improved strategies for managing and delaying the development of insensitive populations" of dollar spot on golf fairways. Details the materials and methods used in the study, stating that, following a program of several fungicide application rates and intervals, "in vitro sensitivity assays will also be conducted...[for] fungicide sensitivity to propiconazole and triticonazole." Reports that, "in brief, fungicide insensitivity will be measured by comparing the relative mycelium growth on fungicide amended potato-dextrose agar to mycelium growth on potato-dextrose agar without fungicide." Concludes that "this is a tool that will provide a great service to superintendents and potentially reduce unnecessary fungicide applications and the associated costs." Includes tables depicting trial information such as plot maps for field evaluation, and a list of commercial fungicide treatments used. |
