| Abstract/Contents: | Presents research in which "trials comparing 41 varieties of seven turfgrass species/subspecies on USGA-greens at two sites in each of the two major climatic zones in Scandinavia were evaluated." Reports that "cultivar differences within each species at each of the three test sites were mostly significant, but significant interactions often suggested that different varieties should be preferred in the two climatic zones." Provides a table indicating which varieties are recommended for putting greens in various regions of Nordic countries. Concludes that "on average for varieties within species, red fescue, especially chewings fescue, had significantly less winter damage than perennial ryegrass and bentgrass in both climatic zones." |
