Abstract/Contents:Discusses different types of mowing equipment through such as horse-drawn mowers, 'ride type motor mower,' 'Triplex,' and the 'Walk Type' motor mower. Explains that when golf was introduced in America the only device available for mowing fairways was a horse-drawn mower. Adds that these machines were created with a heavy roller and were drawn at about 2 1/2 miles per hour. Mentions that mowing an 18-hole course with this piece of equipment was a very a long and expensive task. Details the triplex style mower, enlarged hand mowers without rollers, and horse drawn and the Walk Type Motor mower, similar to a horse mower with a motor attached. Concludes by discussing two mowers that are potentially simple to operate.
