| Abstract/Contents: | "Time and trouble taken in assessing optimum irrigation requirements on fine sports turf will be repaid with a quality playing surface. The long, hot, dry summer of 1989, like its precursor in 1984, caught many grounds managers unprepared. By the end of the year the decimation of leisure turf, particularly of golf and bowling greens, was evident. Like the plague, the drought was indiscriminate in its choice of victim, striking as it did at hallowed championship courses and local recreational greens alike." Discusses water capacity, waste, and design relating to irrigation systems. |
