| Abstract/Contents: | Insecticide treatments were applied to fescue rough, arranged in 11'x 11' plots with 3' buffers between, replicated 6 times. The treatments were on 6/9/88. Plots were evaluated on 7/13 and 7/14 by excavating nine 4 inch diameter plugs, and examining them for billbug larvae and damaged plant crowns. The billbug population was greater in some treated plots than in the control plots. On the basis of this study, the most effective insecticides were: Triumph, Danitol 2.4 EC at 0.6 and 0.8 lbs ai/A, and Dursban 4E at 0.75 lbs ai/A. Enclosed table lists 11 treatments and the control, the application rates and the mean number of grubs per square foot after treatment. |
