Abstract/Contents:Suggests that "the best climate scientists in the world all agree that our climate will warm, by about 2-4.5 [degrees Celsius] over the next 100 years." Notes that climate change is a result of an accumulation of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Describes what an increase in global carbon dioxide levels could mean for the turfgrass industry. Explains that carbon dioxide acts as a plant growth stimulator, which can have positive implications for turf growth, but will also stimulate weed growth. Concludes that "turfgrass will require more frequent mowing to maintain height, and might need heavier or more frequent applications of nitrogen fertilizer to compete with leguminous weeds."
